PiPoT Framework Updated
Updated People in Positions of Trust (PiPoT) Framework Published
The Lewisham Safeguarding Adults Board (LSAB) has updated and republished its People in Positions of Trust (PiPoT) Framework, providing refreshed guidance for organisations responding to concerns about professionals and volunteers who work with adults with care and support needs.
The framework helps agencies manage allegations or concerns where an individual in a position of trust may have:
- Behaved in a way that has harmed, or may have harmed, an adult or child.
- Possibly committed a criminal offence against, or relating to, an adult or child.
- Behaved in a way that indicates they may pose a risk of harm to adults with care and support needs.
The PiPoT framework is designed to work alongside existing safeguarding and risk management processes and may be used in conjunction with arrangements such as MARAC and MAPPA.
Importantly, where concerns relate directly to the abuse or neglect of an adult at risk, agencies should continue to follow the Lewisham Adult Safeguarding Pathway. The PiPoT process should never replace safeguarding adults procedures but can run concurrently with them.
Professionals are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the updated framework, available on the People in Positions of Trust webpage.
